Abstract

Anall-skysurveyperformedwiththeTibetAirShowerArray(TibetAS)

hasfoundanumberofpotentialpointsourcesofTeVgammarays.Iftheyaresteadysources,theimpliedTibetAS uxesshouldbevisiblewithstrongsignif-icancetotheWhipple10-mgamma-raytelescope(E>400GeV)withonlyashort(5hour)exposure.WehaveobservedfourcandidatedirectionsfromtheTibet-IIHDdatasetfor~5hourseachwiththeWhippletelescope.Inaddition,weobservedanewcandidatedirectionfromtheTibet-IIIPhase1datasetfor7.5hours.Wehavefoundnocorrespondingexcessesatthe uxlevelsimplied,andwehavesetupperlimitsforeachcandidate.1.

Introduction

TheTibetASisanarrayofparticledetectorslocatedinTibetatanel-evationof4300mandoperatedbytheTibetASγcollaboration.TheTibet-IIHDarrayoperatedfrom1996to1999withanenergythresholdof3TeVandanangularresolutionof0.9 .TheTibet-IIIarrayhasoperatedsince1999withthesamethresholdandresolution[1,2].Theabilityofthesearraystodetectgamma-raysourceshasbeendemonstratedthroughdetectionoftheCrabNebula[3]andMrk501[4].
