Air Pollution In Zibo

Last Monday, if you went out, you would find out there are few cars running on the road, if you look carefully, you will find that the last number of most cars’ licenses is one of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.This is because in order to ensure good air during APEC, According the regulation of Zibo Traffic Police Production Brigade, from Nov 6 to 12, Zibo restrict the use of private vehicles based on even and odd numbered license plates. From the Qilu News, Jinan, Dongying, Dezhou, Liaocheng and Binzhou also take the same measures. In order to ensure good air, we have to adopt the way limiting vehicles’ travel, we can see the air pollution is serious.

But do you know how serious the pollution is? Today I’d like to share with you what I’ve learned about it. And I’ll tell you something about what cause the pollution, what’s the harm and what should we do to reduce the pollution in Zibo.

As an old industrialized city, the current situation of air pollution is so terrible. In Zibo city, the concentration of suspended particulate matter generally exceed the standard. Sulfur dioxide pollution and PM2.5 has always maintain at a higher level. The total discharge of pollutants in motor vehicles' exhaust gas is increasing rapidly. According to Zibo City Environmental protection bureau in September, the average concentration of PM2.5, Sulfur dioxide respectively is 72μg/m, 89μg/m. The concentration of suspended particulate matter is 128μg/m. These three exceed the standards, which are 35 μg/m, 60μg/m, 70 μg/m. We often see people wearing masks to boycott haze. We even can't always see the blue sky，the beautiful setting sun and the flying birds in Zibo. What is the reason that is contributing to the serious situation？Many factories pumped industrial wastes that is not dealt with into the air.
