Classification of work at heights

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of work at heights, the height calculation method and classification of work at heights. This standard applies all types of work at heights.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1

Work at heights

The work performed at a high place greater than 2 meters above the datum plane for highness of falling, where there is a possibility of people falling down from that high place. 3.2

Datum plane for highness of falling

The lowest horizontal plane within the possible falling bounds. 3.3

Possible falling bounds

The vertical cylindrical space which center is the work position, and which radius is the radius of possible falling bounds. 3.4

Radius of possible falling bounds (R)

The horizontal distance to the work position specified in order to define the possible falling bounds.

Note: The unit of radius of possible falling bounds is meter, the value depends on the basic highness which is related to the landforms, terrain and distribution of buildings of the work place. The specified value is based on the statistical analysis of a lot of high fall accidents.
