Chapter 6 Resolver( Rotary Transformer) A resolver is a type of rotary electrical transformer used for measuring degrees of rotation. It is considered as an analog device, and has a digital counterpart, the rotary (or pulse) encoder. On the outside, this type of resolver may look like a small electrical motor
having a stator and rotor. On the inside, the configuration of the wire windings makes it different. Resolvers are rugged, simple rotary position transducers, they can provide high accuracy position measurement from zero speed to very high RPM. Resolvers are wound with two rotor and two stator windings. Two stator windings which are 90 degrees apart.
