The Old Town of Lijiang

The Old Town of Lijiang is also called as Dayan Old Town, which is located in Yunnan province, Lijiang city. The old town of Lijiang is also known as one of the most well-preserved four big old towns. They are Sichuan LangZhong、shanxi Pingyao、 Anhui shexian and Yunnan Lijiang. The Old Town of Lijiang is one of the two old towns which do not have the city wall because of some history reasons. It is an intact ancient city inhabited mostly by Naxi ethnic people and covers an area of 3.2 square kilometers.

Geography location:

The Old Town of Lijiang is on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, with an altitude of 2400 meters. The whole town covers an area of

3.2 square kilometers. Nowadays, the inhabitants are about 6200 households, 25000people. The majority people are the Naxi ethnic people.

The Old Town of Lijiang is surrounded by Lion Mountain in the west and by Elephant and Golden Row Mountains in the north. These mountains in the northwest shelter it from the cold wind. In
