随着通信技术的迅速发展，以及大众对通信的需求也逐渐庞大起来，越来越多的先进技术不断涌出水面，为大众的需求源源不断的给予满足。随即我国的3G时代也开辟了新的界面。其中WCDMA与TD-SCDMA都是首当其冲的技术。并且二者之间都存在许多的关联。切换技术就是其中的关键。所谓切换是指当移动台处于移动状态中通讯从一个基站或信道转移到另一个基站或信道的过程。在WCDMA中，主要研究软切换；在TD-SCDMA中主要探讨的是接力切换。而软切换和接力切换就分别是其中的一项新的核心技术。基于软切换、接力切换的概念，阐述软切换、接力切换关键技术的原理及特点。并对软切换在WCDMA上和接力切换在TD-SCDMA上所应用的意义。
