We study the interpreting this course this semester, and I have a preliminary understanding of interpreting. Our teacher also gives us some interpreting trainings to improve our interpreting skills

Interpretation is a form of translation. Translators express a kind of language in another language. Interpreting is verbal communication behavior which transforms the information from one language into another, and a basic communication tool which human rely on in cross-cultural and cross- national exchanges. The first process of interpreting is listening, and then using the memory and transformation to express it. I think understanding is an important link; we needs to understand the language, use the language knowledge and then make a comprehensive analysis. Listening is an input and the first important part. So interpreter should listen and sometimes should see carefully. Interpreter should remember the information using the top-down memory method and then try their best to translate what he has heard. After translating, delivering, output, is last part of the interpreting. Interpreter should speak out loudly, properly and clearly.

According to the class, I know that there are three types of memory: interpreting the instantaneous memory, short-term memory and long-term memory. Memory effect have a certain relationship with the type of memory material, considering the different types of memory and the various factors which affect memory, and we can adopt the following methods to do the memory training.

A, strengthen basic knowledge and increase the vocabulary and our own knowledge. I think that are of great help to the improvement of interpreting memory, only the broaden scope, but also the new words appeared in practical interpretation work.

B, remember some interpreting symbols and abbreviations, because it’s helpful when you are taking notes. The speed of taking notes by hand while listening to new content is crucial. So symbols and abbreviations are very important. During this course, the teacher has taught us a lot about the abbreviated and symbol which are simple, clear and easy to remember

C, during the ordinary times, we should keep on the daily training. A good
